File Specifications

General guidelines

File Format We accept both Mac and PC file formats.
Bleed It is CRITICAL to include 1/8" bleed for artwork that is intended to print to the trim edge of your piece. For more information about including bleed in your art work, please click here.
Resolution All image files must be 300dpi at full size. The only exception is for Large Format projects. See the specific guidelines below.
Color Space All images should be supplied as CMYK. All custom colors should be built in CMYK. If you supply images as RGB, or build colors in RGB there will be color shift when they are converted to CMYK.
The only exception is for projects being printing Photographically. These projects may be submitted in either the RGB or CMYK. As a general rule, keep images in their native color spaces.
Media/File Transport CD, DVD or FTP. To access our FTP site, please click here.
Hard Copy It is important to provide a visual reference for us to use when assembling your files. This may be provided as a laser print, a fax, or a PDF file.

Specific guidelines

Please choose one of the following for information specific to your project type:

File formats & set up

- Lenticular side: Layered Photoshop native PSD files are preferred. You may also send in TIFF format.
  • For FLIP, ZOOM, MORPH & ANIMATION effects, use a separate layer for each "view," or "frame."
  • Please identify which view is to be "center" i.e, in view when the viewer is looking straight-on at the piece.
  • For 3D effects, you may use up to 99 layers. Create each element in the layout on its own layer. That will give us more flexibility and will improve the 3D depth.
- Back (non-lenticular) side: lllustrator or InDesign files are preferred. Quark files are also accepted. For crisp, clean text, do not submit a Photoshop file for the back side art.
- Please supply all fonts, or convert them to outlines.
- Please supply all linked images or make sure to embed them into the file.

File Resolution

- All files must be submitted 300dpi at full size.

A Special Note for 3D projects

- Your file and background layers must be about 12-15% WIDER than the finish size of the job.
- Why? We need the additional width in the background layers to create 3D depth.
- Note: all text and images that are not background art need to stay within the live area of your job.
- Example: a 24" wide 3D piece with full bleed should be built at 27.25" wide and have background art that fills that space.

Color Space

- All files must be built in CMYK.
- Images or colors built in RGB will be converted to CMYK and colors WILL shift.

Color Matching

- Make note of color matching needs. Please provide color swatches for color matching. We will make every effort to meet your color objectives, with the understanding that PMS-to-CMYK and PMS-to-RGB conversions are never exact.

Fonts

- Please supply all fonts that have not be rasterized or outlined.
- Avoid Italic/Script.Oblique typefaces on the lenticular side, as they will appear jagged from the lens texture.
- For the same reason, avoid small typeface sizes on the lenticular side.
